7 Ways to Reduce Bad Breath

There are a number of ways to reduce bad breath issues. In addition to regularly brushing your gums, teeth, and tongue, flossing MUST be incorporated into your brushing routine. If an you wear dentures, they should be thoroughly and regularly cleaned. Keeping the mouth clean is the first way to keep your breath odor-free.

Second, it is necessary to visit a dentist a minimum of two times each year: this will ensure that the mouth is healthy and that the individual has not developed any dental disorders or diseases which can later lead to halitosis.

You should also get into the habit of using a tongue scraper. A tongue scraper helps remove some of the odor causing bacteria that grows on your tongue. A scraper is easy to use and can be used regularly after every time you brush. Finish off with a mouth wash rinse to keep your breath fresh longer throughout the day.

Smokers longing for fresher breath should drop the habit right away. Smoking cigarettes and even chewing tobacco can make the breath smell sour and stale. In addition, smoking can lead to other conditions in the mouth that may promote the onset of halitosis.

Keeping the interior of your mouth as moist as possible is recommended for those seeking to fend off breath odor; this can be done a number of ways. You may want to increase the amount of water intake every day. Also sucking on an unsweetened candy or chewing unsweetened gum can also help moisten the mouth by encouraging saliva production.

Finally for fresh breath throughout the day, you should monitor your food intake. Be aware of the odors the food you plan on eating will give you. Come prepared with mints and/or a toothbrush to keep you fresh after your meal. If you're not sure, play it safe and order something simple!
